France Budget Minister Eric Worth informed the public that they had an agreement with the European Union about the opening of French online gambling. As of the moment they are start issuing authorization for online betting operators and it will start on 2009.

Woerth met Internal Market Commissioner Charlie McCreevt to talk about EU member over France’s restrictions on online gambling industry. France agreed to open the gaming sector in a controlled way because they are just protecting the country 5.3 billion Euros gambling revenues.

Early next year France will be introducing a law in parliament after summer break and if goes well the permits will be issue by 2009. They are also setting rules that they will not set the prized before all bets are placed.

There are some factors that need to consider for qualifying for the license. The company needs to ensure that minors will not be able to place any wagers and they should offer some form of protection against problem gambling. The company needs to follow strict rules on advertising and money laundering.
