The UNI Gaming global union agreed that they will focus Asia for gaming expansion. The Gaming trade unions worldwide agreed that they will work together to discuss about online gambling issues such as threatens jobs, creates problems of unmonitored and addictive gambling.
Macau is the world’s biggest gambling centre and has the biggest casino in the world. A total of $32bn is predicted by Deutsche Bank will be invested in Asian gaming market between 2004 and 2010 and 70% of it is in Macau. There are some countries has been strictly controlled by state monopolies particularly in Europe and some companies wanted to transfer to Asian countries due to growing pressure. The goal of the union is to protect employment and to help gamblers with an addiction problem. UNI has opened a new office in Hong Kong and still negotiating in Macau in organizing a new casino. There was a Union meeting held and attended from different countries such as Argentina, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Lithuania, Malaysia, Netherlands, Spain and USA and they agreed to draw up an online gambling unrestricted in some countries but banned in countries like the United States and Germany. |
