In the wonderful world of online gaming, one sort of online tournament that seems to attract a great many players is the Elimination Blackjack event. There are two such sites currently in operation that runs such tournaments, though players in the United States -- due to laws passed by Congress -- are not allowed to compete for prize money, specifically, but can compete for other non-monetary prizes, while also playing the blackjack for free. One of these sites is actually the official venue for the Ultimate Blackjack Tour, otherwise known as the UBT. At this site players can sign up to play in one of the famous Sit and Go tournaments that run 24 hours a day. It's free to do so, and players can work to advance all the way through to the main event. How it works is that you must win a Sit and Go event, which doesn't take too long, at which point you'll receive what the site calls a Tournament Entry Chip. These chips are used to purchase entry into one of the specific qualifiers for that big main event. If you're a good enough blackjack player and can win the main event -- and there are some really good players, so keep that in mind -- you'll have gained a spot at the final table for the next stop on the tour, which is actually televised. Now how's that for some real-life excitement? What's great about the UBT venue is that there are occasional tournaments known as Freerolls, which hand out prizes for making the final table. There are a lot of promotions that the UBT runs, with the main one being the chance to appear on TV. There is also very little waiting time to get into one of the Sit and Go events. This site is download-based, meaning you have to download a piece of software that allows you to participate. Another popular site allows you to also play regular Blackjack card games along with giving players a chance to participate in free poker tournaments along the way. Called Bet21, it too offers Elimination Blackjack turns in which there are also chances to win enough to get to appear on television at the UBT final table. US based players are allowed to compete for occasional non-cash prizes. What one needs to understand about any of these tournaments is that the game of Blackjack is a game of skill far more than it is of luck. Therefore, it's a good idea to take advantage of many of the online tutorials and software programs that all of these online Blackjack tournament and gaming sites offer for the benefit of their patrons. Additionally, it's recommended that a novice player use a software program that acts like a casino (and there are a number of popular ones available) environment and teaches the game -- especially the ins and outs while the play is going on. There is a great deal of excitement involved in online gaming, especially when it comes to something like Blackjack. Just take a little time to learn something about it before jumping in with both feet. |
